Las Vegas police are investigating reports of a shooting and stabbing near South Cimarron Road and West Mountain's Edge Parkway in the southwest part of the valley.
The incident was reported at 3:52 p.m. in the 10000 block of Keifer Valley Street.
During a press briefing, it was revealed that a 22-year-old man stabbed his father multiple times before being shot by the older man. The son was identified as Devry Moore of Las Vegas. Police had originally said he was 19 years old.
The 22-year-old man was killed and the older man, who is around 40 years of age, was transported to UMC Trauma with four stab wounds. It is believed that he is in stable condition.
No arrests have been made at the time. The case has been forwarded to the Clark County District Attorney.
There were several other people in the home at the time.
It is not known at this time what led to the incident.
"To get to that level where it results in violence and stabbing and shooting somebody, it obviously is a great concern for us as an agency and obviously the family is extremely upset right now," said Lt. Dan McGrath of Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Exact relationship between the two is unclear, but they were relatives. Metro Lt. McGrath calls it "an awful situation."
