Man identified in fatal shooting at Plaza hotel

A man is dead after he was reportedly shot and killed by his wife after an argument at the Plaza hotel-casino in downtown Las Vegas.

Police say they were dispatched to the hotel at 10:13 p.m. Dec. 24. Upon arrival, they located an adult male with apparent gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding medical personnel.

The man was identified as 48-year-old David Timothy Cardova of North Las Vegas. He died of a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police arrested 34-year-old Maria Escalante. Police say that Escalante shot her husband multiple times during an argument in their hotel room.

The woman was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of murder with a deadly weapon.

According to CCDC's website, she is also being charged with child neglect and endangerment.
