UPDATE: One of the victims has been identified as 33-year-old Edgar Palomino from Las Vegas. He died from multiple gunshot wounds by manner of homicide.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Police are investigating a double homicide early Sunday morning.

Police responded around 1 a.m. in the 2400 block of East McWilliams Avenue, near Eastern Avenue and Bonanza Road.

Arriving officers found two men lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Medical personnel arrived and transported both men to the UMC Trauma Center where they died of their injuries.

Homicide detectives determined the victims were outside in the driveway when two unknown males walked past and words were exchanged. The argument escalated when one of the suspects brought out a handgun and fired at the victims multiple times. Both suspects were last seen running westbound on McWilliams Avenue toward 23rd Street.

These are the 47th and 48th homicides investigated by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department in 2016.

The identity of the victims, as well as their cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. One of the men was identified Sunday as 29-year-old Javier Rodriguez Ruiz of Las Vegas.
