ORIGINAL STORY:

Police are investigating a homicide at 1123 Colgate Lane, near East Washington Avenue and North Sloan Lane.

They got the call around 5:40 p.m. Sunday night.  Police say an elderly woman was found dead in the home.

Officers and medical personnel arrived and confirmed the elderly female deceased and noted she had possible trauma to her head.

The investigation initiated by the LVMPD Homicide Section indicated there was likely a domestic disturbance that had occurred at the residence earlier in the day between the victim and her estranged husband resulting in her death.

Her husband has not been located.

The male was gone on officers’ arrival and has not yet been located.

This is the 102nd homicide investigated by the LVMPD in 2016. The identity of the victim, as well as the cause and manner of death, will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Toni Leisure, the victim's niece, spoke to 13 Action News over the phone. She said that the elderly woman was deeply religious.

"She prayed the rosary every day," said Leisure. "She did not deserve to die like this."

Police are still investigating what exactly happened Sunday night.
