Las Vegas police held a press conference Monday afternoon regarding last week's officer-involved shooting.

The shooting occurred Jan. 26 in the 3600 block of Asbury Hill Avenue, near Pecos and Bonanza roads.

Police said 35-year-old Gilberto Gutierrez had stolen a car and pointed a gun at officers during a foot chase. An off-duty officer was in his car and police said it looked like Gutierrez was going to carjack him.

Officer Samuel Solario fired three rounds at Gutierrez. Solario has been with the department since July 1998.

Solario is on routine paid administrative leave after the shooting.

The suspect's injuries were described as minor and he was released from the hospital the same day.

Gutierrez faces multiple felony auto theft, assault and weapon charges, along with a misdemeanor possession of burglary tools charge.
