UPDATE: Man arrested after police standoff near Tropicana, Lindell

UPDATE: Reports came in of a Hispanic male adult chasing individuals around with knife inside an apartment complex on the 5400 block of West Tropicana Avenue.

When officers arrived, they observed that one of the apartments had broken out windows. The man was throwing items out of the window. These items included a baton and a knife.
 
Officers determined he was an immediate threat to the surrounding community. They attempted to call him out and negotiate with him.
 
The man initially said he would come out, then he changed his mind and that's when SWAT was called.
 
He started a fire inside the apartment which actually forced him out. That's when SWAT took him
Into custody.
 
Charges are currently pending.

ORIGINAL STORY:

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Police are investigating a call involving a person who was reported to be armed with knives.  

It was reported around 1:38 p.m. on Friday at a residential neighborhood located in the 5400 block of West Tropicana Avenue, near Lindell Road.

Officers arrived and are in communication with the person.  It is unknown if the person is still armed at this time.  The SWAT team and negotiators are enroute to the scene.
