LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A person connected with a Las Vegas charter school has been quarantined due to potential exposure to the coronavirus, by the Southern Nevada Health District.
Administrators at Explore Knowledge Academy notified parents in a letter sent to them Friday, and was obtained by 13 Action News from a student's relative.
In the letter, administrators say SNHD told the school there was "no direct exposure to Explore Knowledge Academy, its students, staff, or families."
We received notice from the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) that a member of the EKA family is under quarantine by SNHD due to potential exposure to COVID-19," the letter states. "We are sending this notice to advise our EKA families and staff that EKA Administration is in constant and ongoing communication with SNHD regarding this matter and COVID-19 best practices generally."
It's not clear whether this person is a staff member, parent, or student at the charter school or whether it is related to the presumptive case in Clark County.
According to the charter school's website, it's board of directors held an emergency meeting Friday afternoon to discuss COVID-19.
