The penalty phase for the man who pleaded guilty in Alyssa Otremba's death will not start until fall.
During a hearing Tuesday, the defense for 23-year-old Javier Righetti said they have a key male witness for the penalty phase who is not available until October. The defense would not identify the witness.

Righetti faces the death penalty in 15-year-old Otremba's death. He pleaded guilty on Feb. 11 to the September 2011 death.
Righetti admitted to kidnapping, sexually assaulting and stabbing Otremba dozens of times before burning her corpse in northwest Las Vegas.
The next hearing is March 17. The penalty phase itself is not expected to start until Oct. 3.
