A person was found lying in the street near Tropicana Avenue and Jones Boulevard on Friday morning.

The person, later identified as Trent Turnbo, was transported to UMC Trauma in serious condition. There was no car or driver on the scene when the police arrived.

Turnbo has brain trauma, broken ribs and bruised spleen, kidney and liver, among other injuries. His mother Karen Turnbo says her son is improving but progress is slow.

Turnbo says she was at work when she heard police had found a body. She says her concern was instant since her son hadn't come home from work that morning.

Turnbo says her son had just started a new job. The former Bonanza High School student was saving to go back to school.

The family wants whoever is responsible to turn themselves in.

"If anyone's seen this, please come forward or the man himself," Turnbo said. "Come forward and let us know that you didn't mean to."

His family has set up a GoFundMe for medical expenses.
