A 46-year-old man is dead and his wife is in the hospital after police say the couple was crossing Las Vegas Boulevard near Walnut Road Friday evening and got hit by a car.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department confirms that woman was pushing the man's wheelchair as they crossed the street outside of a crosswalk around 8:20 p.m.

The woman has been identified as 44-year-old Judith Terrell. She has serious injuries. The man was identified as Michael Allen Terrell of North Las Vegas.

Police say the driver of the suspect vehicle took off, but vehicle parts at the scene containing serial numbers may lead them to who is responsible. Police said the vehicle may be a early 1990s, dark colored Nissan sedan. A new law in effect makes a hit-and-run punishable by a minimum of two years behind bars.

The death marks the 114th fatal accident on Las Vegas roads this year; earlier Friday another person involved in an auto-pedestrian collision more than a week ago also passed away of his injuries.
