Pedestrian dies after crash on Charleston

UPDATE: Police reported on Monday that on Dec. 25 they were notified by the Clark County coroner that Kenneth Kleckner had died of his injuries.

This was the 124th fatality in the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction in 2015.

ORIGINAL STORY

A man is in critical condition after being hit by a car Monday night.

It happened near Charleston Boulevard and Brush Street just before 11 p.m.

Officers said the man, identified as 70-year-old Kenneth Kleckner was walking in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a Acura TL. The driver stayed on the scene.

Kleckner's injuries were determined to be life-threatening by UMC Trauma personnel.

Charleston Boulevard, just west of Decatur Boulevard, was closed for hours while police investigated the crash.
