A car crash at the intersection of West Charleston Boulevard and South Scholl Drive left a pedestrian dead.

Evidence at the scene and witness statements say the 46-year-old pedestrian was walking north across Charleston Boulevard at the intersection with Scholl Drive when she was hit by a Ford pickup.

The woman was knocked into the roadway and slid to a stop. The Ford fled the scene after the crash.

Emergency Medical Services arrived at the scene and the woman was pronounced dead. The driver of the Ford, 39-year-old Aubrey Hooper, returned to the scene with the vehicle approximately two hours after the crash.

He was arrested for hit-and-run and suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
