Las Vegas police are investigating a homicide on the city's northeast side. It happened in the block of 4100 block of Eileen Street near Walnut and Alexander roads.

Homicide detective Lt. Dan McGrath said the call came in around 7:20 p.m. The victim was pronounced dead about an hour later at UMC Trauma. McGrath said there were several people inside the residence at the time of the incident.

Two men were involved in some sort of physical altercation. An elderly relative tried to break up the fight. That's when one of the men left the room and then returned with a gun and fired a single shot at the man he had been arguing with.

Police were questioning the alleged shooter and said that everyone involved were either related or knew each other. McGrath said the victim was a man in his 40s and the alleged shooter appeared to be about 25 years old. Investigators were trying to determine what happened in the moments that led up to the shooting
