One person was hospitalized after a fire Sunday afternoon.

Las Vegas Fire & Rescue reported the fire around 3:05 p.m. in the 1900 block of Abbott Street, near Martin Luther King and Lake Mead boulevards. The fire started on the patio of a one-story house before spreading to the attic.

The damage is mostly outside with some interior damage. Damages were estimated at $65,000.

When firefighters arrived, they saw a woman trying to escape the smoke-filled house being assisted by other family members. Firefighters first went to help the woman out of the house.

Fire officials said the woman was taken to the hospital to be checked out due to a prior medical condition as a precaution. She was not suffering from smoke or burns.

A total of three adults were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
