Coroner releases name of man shot by police

UPDATE: The Clark County coroner identified the deceased on Thursday afternoon as 32-year-old Thomas Joseph McEniry from Las vegas.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has released the names of the officers who were involved in a shooting on Nov. 24 in the 3800 block of South Maryland Parkway.

The officers have been identified as in the 3800 block of South Maryland Parkway have been identified as Officers Kyle Prior, Robert Nord, and Donald Sutton III.

Officer Prior is 26 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since July, 2008.

Officer Nord is 26 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since March, 2014.

Officer Sutton III is 32 years of age and has been employed with the LVMPD since November, 2014.

According to police, the incident began when officers attempted to pull over a car after learning that its license plates did not match the vehicle's description. The driver sped off and the officers did not follow.

A short time later, officers pulled over the same vehicle nearby. The driver jumped out and took off running.

The police officers gave chase into a nearby apartment complex and attempted to tase the man. Police say that the man then reached for a gun and the police officers opened fire. The man died at a local hospital.

All three officers are currently assigned to the LVMPD Community Policing Division, South Central Area Command, and have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of a review of this event.
