One person is dead following an accident near Martin L. King Boulevard and Carey Avenue.
North Las Vegas police say a 49-year-old Las Vegas man was heading west down Carey Thursday night at about 7:30.
Witnesses told police he may have run a red light.
An SUV being driven by a 38-year-old man was coming eastbound on Carey, attempting to make either a left turn or a U-turn.
The two vehicles crashed sending them about 100 feet down from the intersection. Officials say both alcohol and speed appear to be factors.
The SUV driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The coroner identified the deceased as 49-year-old Nicolas Lugo from Las Vegas.
Neither car had any passengers inside.
