Clark County School District Police say there was a non-credible shooting threat at Brown Jr. High School on Wednesday.

The following letter was sent to parents by the principal of Brown Jr. High School:

Providing a safe, positive learning environment for our students is the number one priority at Brown Academy. As always, we want to keep you informed of important issues happening within our school community.

We were notified that a threat to the school was posted on social media yesterday. We immediately investigated with assistance from the Clark County School District Police and the Henderson Police Department. No credible threat was made, but out of an abundance of caution we have taken the appropriate steps to ensure the safety of all students and staff members, which resulted in increased police patrols around the school this morning.

There is no interruption to our school day today and instruction is proceeding as normal.

Please talk to your students and remind them that making threats of any kind is a serious matter and can be considered a criminal offense.

As a reminder, if you become aware of something that may impact student safety, you are encouraged to call CCSD Police Dispatch at 702-799-5411, or you can call the anonymous tip line at 702-799-0228.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please call the school at 702-799-8900.
