LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A woman in North Las Vegas was arrested after she set her mattress on fire because she was angry with her parents, fire officials say.

Crews responded to reports of a fire on May 6 around 3:45 p.m. at a home on east Nelson Avenue, near 5th Street and the I-15.

Officials say 21-year-old Antanisha Ellis was agitated with her parents and so she started the fire in the bedroom of the home.

Crews were able to extinguish the fire in 15 minutes and neighboring apartments were not damaged.

Her elderly parents were able to escape without injury.

Fire Investigators arrested Ellis on one count of first-degree arson and one count of attempted murder because of her parents advanced age.
