LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

3:30 P.M.
Police were called the 5300 block of East Lake Mead Boulevard, near North Nellis Boulevard, with reports of a shooting. Brian Lopez, 18, was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound and was taken to UMC where he later died from his injuries. The homicide incident remains under investigation as police said the shooting appeared to be a failed robbery. He was identified as 18-year-old Brian Lopez of Las Vegas on Sept. 24 by the coroner. His cause of death was gunshot to the head. His death was ruled a homicide.

10:30 A.M.
Las Vegas police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in the 4400 block of Thompson Circle, near Washington Avenue and Decatur Boulevard. A man and woman were both located inside a home with gunshot wounds and pronounced deceased. Evidence at the scene indicated the man shot his wife before using the weapon to take his own life, according to officers.

1:35 A.M.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue arrived to heavy flames at the rear of a duplex located on the 1600 block of East St. Louis Avenue, east of Maryland Parkway. They were able to knockdown the fire before it extended into the exterior of the residence and there were no injuries reported.
