LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

1:44 A.M.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Watch Commander reports that a man at a family party at a residence located on the 3600 block of Bonanza Road, near North Pecos Road, became distraught and picked up his infant child. The man, reportedly, began cutting himself with a knife while holding the baby. He then got into a vehicle with the infant and drove off. Family members notified LVMPD of the incident and, while en route, responding officers came across a crash at the intersection of Alta Drive and Valley View Boulevard. They quickly learned that one of the vehicles was that which the man and baby had driven off in. Police say that, after driving off, the male drove south on Valley View, failed to stop at the red light and struck a four door sedan traveling west on Alta. The man and infant were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The four occupants of the sedan were also transported and one passenger was in critical condition but expected to survive. The other three suffered non-life threatening injuries. Impairment is suspected and the distraught male has been detained.

OVERNIGHT
Authorities say there are no injuries after a vacant apartment building caught fire shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Saturday night near Vallie View Boulevard and Sahara Avenue.
