The following is a roundup of breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley.

1:18 P.M.
Construction Alert: Utility work on Lake Mead Boulevard westbound, west of U.S. 95 ramps, lanes reduced. Expect major delays. Use alternate routes, if possible.

12:01 P.M.
JAN. 8 UPDATE: The Clark County Coroner has identified the victim as 28-year-old Jemonte Smith from Las Vegas. Smith's death was due to a gunshot wound to the head and it was ruled a homicide.

LVMPD investigating a homicide in the 3000 block of Contract Avenue near Charleston Boulevard and N. 30th Street. Police say a man who worked at a business, they classified as a clothing store and recording studio, that also sold marijuana "out the back," was found dead by customers when they arrived at the store. This is an on-going investigation, no other information was released at this time.

11:18 A.M.
UPDATE DEC. 15: The Clark County Coroner has identified the victim as 32-year-old Jacqwan James Rankin. Rankin's death was due to gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a homicide.

LVMPD investigating a homicide in the 4700 block of Deckow Lane near Tropicana Avenue and Koval Lane. Police say the victim and shooter had an argument about 10:30 a.m. The shooter pulled out a gun and killed him. He ran and they are looking for him. This is an on-going investigation, no other information was released at this time.

UPDATE 6:15 A.M.
Crews in North Las Vegas have the fire at R & R Salvage Used Auto Parts near Losee Road and Carey Avenue under control. No injuries reported at this time. READ MORE

North Las Vegas firefighters are responding to a massive fire at R & R Salvage Used Auto Parts on Crestline Loop near Losee Road and Carey Avenue.
