This is a roundup of all the breaking news from around the Las Vegas valley for May 7, 2017.

9:30 P.M.

27-year-old James Beach was taken into custody on Sunday in the punching death of Luis Campos that occurred on April 30 in the 500 block of Fremont Street. Detectives with the LVMPD Criminal Apprehension Team located Beach and took him into custody without incident. He is at the Clark County Detention Center were he faces one count of open murder. 

 

The second man involved has been identified and interviewed and is no longer being sought by police.

4:50 P.M.

A person was punched in the face around 4:50 p.m near West Russell Road and South Durango Drive after returning home and finding a burglar in their house. The suspect took off running and was not located by responding officers. 

11:03 A.M.

A woman was stabbed around 9:19 a.m. near Rainbow Boulevard and Patrick Lane after a domestic violence incident, according to police. She was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. No suspect in custody at this time.

7:15 A.M.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting involving one of their officers. On May 6 at 11:07 p.m., police responded to reports of a man attacking a security guard with what appeared to be a shovel. Arriving officers found the suspect carrying a small hand axe and a larger pickaxe. The suspect was shot after refusing to comply with police.
