According to police, a 60-year-old pedestrian was crossing the street using a walker when he got hit by a car.

It happened in front of Gold Coast Casino on Flamingo Road.

Police do believe the pedestrian was using the crosswalk, or at least close to it, while crossing the street.

"People with walkers are a little bit slower," says Sgt. Robert Stauffer with Metro Police Department.  "You have to double check that there's nobody in the intersection who may have started walking when the light was there."

8:15 A.M.

Flamingo Road, between Arville Street and Valley View Boulevard, is expected to re-open within the hour after a pedestrian was killed by a car in the area earlier today.

The pedestrian was later identified as 60-year-old Thomas Salmela from Las Vegas.
