UPDATE APRIL 8: Southern Hills Hospital held a contest for local students to name their surgical robots.

Steve Leums from Pat Diskin Elementary and John Vallejos from Hayes Elementary were the winners. They each received $500 for their school and $100 for themselves.

About 300 people attended an event over the weekend to meet the robots.

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- Southern Hills Hospital now has two new robots for use during surgery, meant to cut down on recovery time and pain.

13 Action News got a look at the technology Wednesday morning.

Southern Hills Hospital will hold a free event on April 6 for the public to check out the robots.

The event will happen from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at 9300 W. Sunset Road.
