Every night, there are kids across the Las Vegas valley going to bed hungry, but a new program at the Clark County School District is trying to make sure that doesn't happen for students at dozens of schools.

CCSD is extending a program this year that gives kids dinners for free at more than 40 schools.

The program began after the district identified a need to help students who struggle with hunger.

"There's a lot of kids that are struggling with that. It's all about something to do for the kids," said CCSD parent Chat martin who supports the idea.

The federal government is reimbursing the district for each meal.
