LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — There was swift reaction from both sides of the Nevada political spectrum in regards to President Trump's nomination of Amy Barret to the US Supreme Court.

Democratic Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto saying, "This is a lifetime appointment to the highest court in our nation and nothing less than access to quality, affordable health care is on the ballot. I will vote no on this nomination to try to stop this latest republican attempt to rip away health care."

Sen. Jacky Rosen (D-NV) said, "Not only does Judge Barrett support the president's plan to dismantle our nation's health care law and eliminate reproductive freedoms, but the rush to confirm her nomination clearly violates the precedent that senate Republicans set just four years ago for filling a supreme court vacancy."

The chairman of the Nevada Republican Party said, "Judge Amy Coney Barrett is a phenomenal choice to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Judge Barrett is a well-respected legal scholar and constitutionalist that won't legislate from the bench and will make Americans proud."
