LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Nevada Highway Patrol is warning drivers to be on the lookout for debris on the roadway.
The NHP Southern Command reported it has responded to more than 1,800 debris-related calls so far this year and troopers are expecting these calls to climb over the summer.
As the heat is a significant factor in tire failures, according to authorities, and tire debris can then become a major roadway danger.
NHP troopers said they do recommend drivers to run over the debris, instead of swerving out of the way, as this can prevent a subsequent crash.
Also, drivers were urged to contact NHP for any debris-related issues on the road by dialing *NHP.
