LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- The Nevada Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help in finding the person responsible for shooting a dog in the face.

NHP says that it received a call around noon Nov. 17 about an injured animal near the Snow Mountain exit and U.S. 95.

When they arrived, they found 2 Good Samaritans helping an injured dog that bleeding from the mouth and had blood on his legs.

They contacted Animal Control and they took the dog to the Animal Foundation.

The dog is named Dudley and the trooper who responded to the call says he is the "sweetest dog" and loved all the attention and rubs he was getting even though he was scared and in pain.

NHP and Animal Control are looking for the person who shot Dudley or his owners. Animal cruelty is a felony in Nevada and NHP says that whomever shot Dudley need to be brought to justice.

Dudley will be available for adoption once he is fully healed.
