A Nevada Army Guard helicopter crew of five soldiers aboard a UH-72A Lakota helicopter will depart North Las Vegas on Sunday for a mission in Oregon to support firefighting efforts.

The crew will fly to Klamath Falls, Oregon, on Sunday and then support medical response missions throughout Oregon as needed. The crew will remain in Oregon through Oct. 2.

The Nevada Army and Air Guard have also provided aviation assets in recent weeks to the hurricane response situations in Texas and Florida as well as other firefighting efforts in both Nevada and California. The Nevada Army Guard has six Lakota airframes in its aviation fleet, two of which are equipped with medical evacuation features.
