LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — Nevada Gov.-elect Steve Sisolak married fiance Kathy Ong Friday in Las Vegas at the Guardian Angel Cathedral in a ceremony attended by family.

Sisolak met Ong, a Nevada native born in Ely, more than five years ago, according to a news release about the wedding.

The couple had announced their engagement the week following Sisolak’s Nov. 6 election victory.

Ong, the co-founder, and director of a Nevada financial consulting firm is expected to take Sisolak’s name.

“Kathy and I join our families in delivering a heartfelt thank you to all those who’ve wished us well as we embark on this new, exciting chapter in our lives,” Sisolak said. “Above all else, I am grateful that I’ll have my soul mate by my side for this journey, and I know Kathy will make Nevada proud as first lady.”
