Power outages were reported around Clark County Sunday afternoon, following storms and windy conditions.

Power was also out in outlying areas such as Mesquite and Laughlin.

Mesquite police reported an outage from Mesquite down to Moapa and Overton around 3:20 p.m. It was estimated it would take up to 4 to 6 hours for power to be restored.

The Overton Power District No. 5 said the power outage was caused by one of the poles going into a substation catching fire.

Nearly 4,900 customers were without power in the Laughlin area around 1 p.m. for about two hours By 3:20 p.m., power had been restored to most in Laughlin. Initially power wasn't expected to be restored until 4 p.m. The cause is under investigation.
