UPDATE: 7 service members test positive for COVID-19 at Nellis Air Force Base

UPDATE MARCH 22: Nellis Air Force Base has confirmed one new positive COVID-19 case, a disease caused by the novel coronavirus, for a total of seven.

All members are being treated and entered isolation at the time of symptom onset. The members will remain in isolation in accordance with CDC protocols.

Nellis AFB says it continues to work closely with our federal, state, and local health officials to ensure our detection and response efforts are coordinated. Nellis AFB leadership is constantly monitoring the situation and will provide additional information as it becomes available.

Any changes at the base will also be shared online.

UPDATE MARCH 21: Nellis Air Force Base confirmed two new positive COVID-19 cases, bringing the total of cases to six.

All members were being treated and in isolation at the time of the symptoms, according to the base, and remain in isolation in accordance with CDC protocols.

Nellis AFB said it continues to work closely with federal, state, and local health officials to ensure detection and response efforts are coordinated.

The base remains open to all personnel with valid identification and Nellis AFB leadership said it is constantly monitoring the situation and will provide additional information as it becomes available.

UPDATE MARCH 20: Nellis Air Force Base has now confirmed three new positive COVID-19 cases, bring the total to four.

All service members are being treated and entered isolation at the time of symptom onset. The members will remain in isolation in accordance with CDC protocols.

ORIGINAL STORY MARCH 19:
LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A NATO service member at Nellis Air Force Base has tested positive for COVID-19. This is the first confirmed case at Nellis AFB.

The service member, who was at the base for Red Flag 20-2, entered isolation at the time of symptom onset and will remain in isolation in accordance with Centers for Disease Control protocols.

The service member has received medical treatment.

Nellis AFB says they are following CDC guidance for personnel who had close contact with the affected individual.

Flight operations for Red Flag 20-2 had already concluded and participating personnel are in the process of returning to their home stations.

Nellis AFB continues to work closely with federal, state, and local health officials to ensure detection and response efforts are coordinated.
