OHIO (CNN) — Thousands of strangers attended the funeral for Korean War veteran Hezekiah Perkins after his relatives were unable to make it because of health issues.
Perkins has planned and paid for his funeral 20 years ago and when the folks at Spring Grove Funeral Home in Cincinnati, Ohio, found out about it, they sent a plea out for attendees.
Soldiers from Fort Knox performed a flag ceremony and some people came from hundreds of miles to honor the war vet.
They were even able to share the service on Facetime with Perkins' daughter.
