Season two of the popular podcast "Serial" debuted Thursday, with the show digging into a new case.

According to the show's website, season two will follow the controversial case of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive by the Taliban in 2009 after disappearing from his base in Afghanistan.

Peabody Award-winning host Sarah Koenig will be joined by screenwriter Mark Boal, who penned the Academy Award-nominated screenplay for 2012's "Zero Dark Thirty."
