WASHINGTON (AP) — National Public Radio says longtime "Morning Edition" host Renee Montagne is vacating the program's anchor chair after the November presidential election but will remain with the network.

Montagne has spent 12 years on the early morning shift, working out of NPR's studios in Culver City, California. In an article posted on its website, she calls the schedule "unsustainable."

NPR says Montagne will continue as a special correspondent on "Morning Edition."

NPR vice president of news programming Christopher Turpin says the network plans to name a replacement.
