Man offers $25K reward for Ohio killer

CINCINNATI -- An Ohio restauranteur Jeff Ruby has offered a $25,000 reward for information that "leads to the arrest and conviction of any person(s) responsible for the murders in the Pike County multiple homicide case," Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said in a press release.

Eight people were killed in Friday's massacre in rural Southern Ohio. Among the dead was a mom who was shot to death in bed next to her four-day-old baby.

Ruby later tweeted that the killer is "an animal" because "he executed mom while she was breastfeeding her 4-day-old baby."

Deputies said that eight people, all members of the Rhoden family, were killed in their homes Friday. Seven adults and one 16-year-old boy were shot in the head, "execution-style." Three children -- ages 3, 6 months and 4-days-old -- were spared.

Investigators said they are unsure if this was the work of one shooter or multiple shooters; no suspects have been detained.

And, as tips poured in throughout the day, DeWine and Pike County Sheriff Charles Reader cautioned it may take a while to find the killer or killers, refuting reports that a "person of interest" was in custody.

"We are very early into this investigation," DeWine said.

"Again, we have a specific family that has been targeted," Reader said. "I don't believe there's any other threat to any members of the community. However, there is a threat there, and I believe that threat to be armed and dangerous."

"We do not know if we are talking about one individual, or two or three or more," DeWine said. He noted there's no indication any of the eight victims died from a suicide.
