The Colorado State Patrol Trooper hit and killed on Interstate 25 Sunday night has been identified as Jaimie Jursevics.

Trooper Jursevics was 33 years old. She is survived by her husband and an 8-month-old daughter.

Jursevics was investigating a minor crash just before 9:30 p.m. local time Sunday when she was hit by a car, officials confirmed.

Jursevics was outside of her vehicle when she was hit.

Sunday night, members of the state patrol lined the streets as the coroner's van passed by.
The driver suspected of hitting and killing Jursevics is a retired Army colonel with a long history of service, records show.

Eric Peter Henderson, 52, was booked into the Douglas County Jail around 7 a.m. Monday on investigation of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a deadly accident, driving under the influence and careless driving causing death.

Henderson was being held on $1 million bond, according to court records.
