A motorcyclist is critically injured after a crash on Wednesday.

It was reported around 11:22 a.m. on the 8400 block of West Flamingo Road, between Durango Drive and Cimarron Road.

Police said a motorcyclist was traveling eastbound on Flamingo at a high rate of speed when he overapplied the front brakes causing the motorcycle to overturn onto its side and hitting the rear of a GMC Yukon.

The motorcyclist was taken to UMC Trauma with life-threatening injuries. He was identified as 18-year-old Stephen Striker of Las Vegas.

The driver of the GMC remained at the scene and did not show any signs of impairment.
