ORIGINAL STORY
LAS VEGAS (KTNV) -- A motorcyclist died in a multiple vehicle crash just west of the Las Vegas Strip Thursday night.
Police said a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on Dean Martin Drive approaching the intersection with Jerry Lewis Way. A Nissan Sentra, BMW 4 Series and two other vehicles were turning left from eastbound Jerry Lewis Way to northbound Dean Martin Drive when the traffic signal displayed solid green arrows for both left turn lanes.
The operator of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle failed to stop for the solid red signal and impacted the left side of the Nissan Sentra near the rear wheel. The force of impact from the Harley-Davidson caused the Nissan Sentra to rotate in a counterclockwise direction. While rotating the right rear of the Nissan Sentra struck the left front wheel of the BMW 4 Series.
The operator of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle was transported to UMC Trauma Center from the scene with injuries determined to be life threatening. Despite medical intervention, the operator of the Harley-Davidson succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
Police said drugs and alcohol were believed to be involved.
