A motorcyclist died after a crash Sunday morning on Interstate 15.

Around 11:30 a.m., there was a 3-vehicle crash on southbound I-15 at Mile Marker 73, a couple miles away from the Valley of Fire exit. Nevada Highway Patrol reported a male motorcyclist rear-ended a semi-truck.

The motorcycle was following the semi-truck in the right travel lane while a Mazda Tribute was in the left travel lane, about to pass the semi-truck. NHP reported the motorcycle was going at a high rate of speed and attempted to pass between the Mazda and the semi-truck when the front of the motorcycle hit the semi. The motorcyclist was ejected.  Debris from the crash struck the Mazda.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 24-year-old Zachary Kilgore from Henderson. The cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries.

Neither the driver of the Mazda or semi-truck were transported to the hospital.

Southbound I-15 traffic was diverted to the shoulder following the crash.
