A motorcyclist died after a collision with a suspected impaired driver in Henderson Monday evening.

Henderson police reports around 7:10 p.m., the operator of a 2016 Honda Shadow motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Paseo Verde Parkway approaching Carnegie Street in the left lane with a green light.

The driver of a 2011 Nissan Murano was travelling westbound on Paseo Verde approaching Carnegie in the far left turn lane with the intent to travel south on Carnegie Street. The driver of the Nissan failed to yield the right of way at a blinking yellow light turning into the path of the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist struck the right side of the Nissan resulting in a traffic collision.

The motorcyclist was transported to UMC Trauma in Las Vegas and subsequently succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of the Nissan, 75-year-old Richard Evans, showed signs of impairment and was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and booked into the Henderson Detention Center.
