A 52-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash Saturday night.

The deceased Henderson man was driving a black 2002 Honda FSC 600cc motorcycle westbound on West Warm Springs Road approaching Eastgate Road at about 9 p.m. when he was struck.

Police said Michael Stanley, 38, was driving a blue 2005 Cadillac CTS westbound on West Warm Springs Road at high rate of speed when he hit the rear of the motorcycle. The motorcycle rider was forced into the guard rail and became separated from the motorcycle.

The rider died at the scene. Stanley continued on westbound West Warm Springs Road approximately 800 feet past the collision. He then fled on foot and was apprehended by Henderson police officers without incident.

Stanley was arrested for driving under the influence causing death and leaving the scene of an injury collision. Speed and alcohol are considered to be the contributing factors in this collision.

The name of the man will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his family has been notified.

Originally police said the crash involved a moped and that the driver remained on scene.

West Warm Springs Road was closed in both directions for approximately five hours.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
