MOHAVE COUNTY (KTNV) — Memorial Day Weekend on the Colorado River was busy with boat traffic even with weather and wind that moved through the area, according to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office.
The Division of Boating Safety in Mohave County said it made 244 contacts, issued 14 citations, made 5 OUI arrests, 1 Felony Aggravated OUI Arrest, investigated two non-injury boat crashes, made one drug arrest, assisted 16 boaters, and also made a stolen watercraft arrest during the holiday weekend.
Friday and Saturday were busy along the Colorado River, with heavy boat traffic, according to the office.
However, high winds on Sunday accounted for many of the boater assists, but also made for a little less boat traffic from the previous days.
Deputies made several positive and education contacts with the public, while ensuring safety on the water throughout the weekend, according to a spokesperson for the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
