LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A Metro Police Officer was involved in a car crash Saturday night just before 9:00 in the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Rainbow Boulevard.

Police said the officer was responding to a barricade situation on nearby Windandsea Street when the crash happened.

They said the intersection would be closed for hours as the determine the cause of the crash, but said they don't expect intoxication to have played a role.

Both the woman and the officer were taken to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries.

The barricade situation developed when officers responded to a burglary call on Windandsea Street and a man refused to come out of the home.

SWAT teams responded and dozens of officers cordoned off the nearby Albertson's shopping plaza along Flamingo Road.

They didn't believe anyone was inside of the home with the man who refused to come outside.
