CORRECTION: Las Vegas police provided the incorrect name and mug shot of the man arrested after an encounter with Sheriff Joseph Lombardo and Capt. James LaRochelle.

Police are now saying that it was 28-year-old Curtis Slack who was arrested.

Curt Northrup, who was on scene, was arrested on unrelated charges.

ORIGINAL STORY
A 56-year-old man named Curt Northrup was arrested on Jan. 16 after an encounter with Sheriff Joseph Lombardo and Capt. James LaRochelle.

The sheriff and captain were driving an unmarked vehicle in the area of Swenson Avenue and Flamingo Road, assessing the homeless issue near the wash, at around 12:35 p.m.

As they were parked along the roadway, an individual approached their vehicle in a challenging manner and demanded to know what they were doing there.

During the encounter, Lombardo and LaRochelle observed what they believed to be a gun in the man's waist band. The man was detained and marked patrol cars responded to assist.

Officers learned the man, identified as Northrup, had an outstanding warrant. They placed him under arrest and discovered a replica of a gun in his possession. He was transported to Clark County Detention Center.
