Man shot, killed near Las Vegas park

Posted at 11:25 AM, May 24, 2017

A man was shot and killed while walking near a park near Eastern and Sahara avenues Tuesday night. Police are now investigating to see if it was gang-related.

The man was shot several times in the 2700 block of East Saint Louis Avenue around 9:20 p.m., but it's still not clear how many people were involved or how it started.

Police say the victim did have a gun on him, and he did have gang affiliations.

The shooting comes just weeks after Las Vegas police brought back their gang unit, hoping to cut back on crimes like this. Las Vegas police had dissolved the unit back in 2015, but after a rise in violent crime, decided to start it back up.

Homicide detectives determined that after the shooting occurred, a silver four door sedan was seen leaving the area. At this time, there have been no suspects arrested.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
