2 arrested in gym parking lot shooting

LATEST UPDATE: According to the arrest report, officers first tracked down Megan Hippie who led them to her alleged accomplice Kyle Staats.

Police found 42-year-old Neil Gandler dead in his car in a parking lot near Rainbow Boulevard and Alta Drive.
 
Police are still trying to determine a motive for his murder.

THIRD UPDATE: Two suspects were arrested Saturday in the fatal shooting, Las Vegas police announced Sunday.

Detectives arrested 27-year-old Kyle Staats and 19-year-old Megan Hippie. They are in Clark County Detention Center, facing charges of first degree murder, attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit robbery. Staats also faces a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle. 

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said they "would like to express gratitude for the numerous tips that were received which were instrumental in this case."

SECOND UPDATE: Las Vegas police have released video of what they believe is the suspect's vehicle. It is described as a mid 2000s two-door coupe with a spoiler and non-tinted windows. It was occupied by two unknown suspects who drove into the parking lot at approximately 1 a.m.

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Neil Brian Gandler of Palo Alto, California.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A man was shot dead in a car in the parking lot of a 24 Hour Fitness early Tuesday morning.

Around 1:20 a.m., the man was shot near Rainbow Boulevard and Alta Drive. His foot was on the brakes and his dry cleaning in his back seat at the time.

Las Vegas police Lt. Dan McGrath says another car pulled up with at least two people inside. One shot from passenger side and hit the victim. He died at the scene.

Surveillance video shows the shooting and the suspect vehicle.

Police do not know what the motive is at this time, whether the man knew the others in the car or whether he was targeted.
