A man accused of being under the influence during a crash this past summer was sentenced Tuesday.
The judge sentenced Arian Galindo to 4 to 10 years for each count of DUI, so he will be spending at 8 least years in prison for killing two people.
Police say he was drunk on the night of July 12 when he ran a red light near Lamb Boulevard and Interstate 15, causing the crash. Sharrod Hightower, 34, and John Rodda, 52, died on the scene.
The defense was asking that Galindo be sentenced concurrently, meaning he could serve both sentences at the same time, but the judge ruled against that. Galindo will serve his sentence consecutively, with a maximum of 20 years.
Action News spoke to Hightower family after the sentence was handed down and all they wanted to do was say thank you to everyone who reached out to them and who loved Sharrod.
