A man was hit in the head with a handgun during an attempted robbery early Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. in the 1900 block of Alwill Street, near Vegas and Rancho drives.
Police said a black male suspect approached the man in the parking lot and demanded his money. When the man told the suspect he didn't have any money, the suspect hit the victim in the head with a handgun, pushed him into a parked vehicle and fired a shot into the air.
The suspect fled south and has not been located.
The victim was treated and released at the hospital.
