Coroner identifies man found in Lake Mead National Recreational Area

UPDATE JULY 19: The Clark County coroner has identified the man found in an abandoned vehicle as 70-year-old Jack lee Hungate of Southgate, Michigan. His cause of death is still pending.

ORIGINAL STORY
Authorities are investigating after a man was found dead in Lake Mead National Recreation Area on Thursday.

A park employee contacted the Lake Mead Interagency Communication Center shortly after 12 p.m. on July 18 saying he came across an abandoned vehicle and a body near the Echo Bay Wash, located at mile marker 33 on Northshore Road.

AREA NEAR DISCOVERY:

National Park Service rangers responded and found the body.

The Clark County Medical Examiner will confirm his identity and determine the cause of death.

The incident is under investigation.
